T-bone – the ultimate steak

Cooking Times, Cuts & Joints, News

What exactly is a T-bone?

T-bone is simply an awesome steak. It’s a mammoth cut taken from a small part of the loin with one side of the ‘T’ being a sirloin steak, and the other side, a fillet steak – the best of both steak worlds. It’s big, flavoursome and one which will leave you with a T-shaped bone after!

Why’s it so good?

There are so many reasons! But if we had to narrow it down, it’s the sirloin’s great flavour and the fillet’s incredible tenderness. Sirloin is the cut of steak on the outer part of the loin and has a wonderful rich beefy flavour. The fillet on the other hand comes from the inside of the loin and has very little fat which makes it melt-your-mouth once cooked. The result? A massive steak full of terrific beefy flavour combinations.

Where’s the beef sourced?

When you eat our T-bones, you’re not only eating like a King, you’re supporting local farmers. Our beef is locally sourced from East Anglia and freshly prepared by our master butchers right here at Swiss Farm.

How should I cook it?

There are a few ways to go about cooking a T-bone, but our favourite way is on the BBQ! You get the wonderful flavour of the steak infused with the subtle smoke from the barbie – it’s quite superb. Simply season the T-bone with freshly ground salt and pepper, add a sprig of rosemary on top, then chuck it on the barbie. If you can’t fire up the BBQ, a quick pan-fry or grill is just as delicious.

A good juicy T-bone weighs around 700 grams and can feed two people (but if you’re like us, you won’t be wanting to share it!)

T-bone steaks – £22.99 kg. Available whilst stocks last.
